New Beginnings

New Beginnings

It’s a new year. New years are about new beginnings, and most people’s new year resolutions are about becoming a better person - a person with a purpose, a person making progress, a person making a difference. And that’s exactly what this blog will be about - helping you become a better version of yourself.

Welcome to the first LoveRoots blog post. You probably don’t know me so I’ll share a few things about me, then a few things about what will be in this blog, and how you can get involved.

Who I Am

I’m a 45 year old male, an introvert, avid reader, and HSP (Highly Sensitive Person - I feel things deeply). I have a high IQ and EQ but don’t consider myself better than anyone else. I believe every life is invaluable and serves a purpose. And I believe we are all here to learn how to love more, respect each life’s journey, and help others along the way.

Although I disliked reading in public school, I fell in love with books after high school. I’ve read thousands of books. (I’d guess I’ve read about 3500 books so far, lol.) While I do enjoy a good novel, my favorite book topics have always been on health, happiness and personal development. It’s those three topics I will focus on in this blog.

My Experiences

I was born in Los Angeles and grew up in Burbank, California. I was raised in poverty by a single mother who taught me early on the importance of character and effort. I’ve never known my father (his choice) and struggled as a boy and young man to make sense of how the rejection of a father affects a boy’s development. It took me 40 years to come to peace with that but thankfully I have. (I’ll share more about ways to overcome childhood trauma in a future blog.)

I started mowing lawns at age eight to help my mom pay the bills, and have worked nearly everyday since. I have worked blue-collar and white-collar jobs. I have a degree in Accounting and have built multi-million dollar businesses. I have lived in million-dollar homes and I have also experienced homelessness. I have experienced the fullness of joy in marriage and the agony of unwanted divorce. I have lived and lost and loved through it all.

Why I Am Blogging

As a little boy, I can recall having a strong desire to help others. At five years old, I ditched Sunday School to visit the sick and lonely seniors at the convalescent home next to church. At eight years old, I stood up to the school bully who picked on smaller, weaker kids and took their lunch money.  And presently, I serve orphans and the homeless on a regular basis.

As far back as I can remember I have always felt other’s pain as if it were my own (typical HSP) and I have always had a strong desire to help others. We are all wired differently and motivated by different things. Feeling another’s pain and wanting to help ease another’s suffering is just how I’m wired and that’s what I want to spend the rest of my life doing. This blog is a way for me to do that.

What I’m Going To Be Blogging About

In short, I’m going to be writing about the things that relate to living a healthy, happy, whole life. I’m going to cover a lot of topics - from mental health to physical health to spiritual health, from the health of mankind to the health of our planet, and the things we can all do to love more - regardless of faith, gender, race, class, or whatever else divides us.

I will write with as much grace and truth as I can, and I will blog weekly. If you don’t want to miss a post, you can sign up for the LoveRoots Newsletter at the bottom of this page and get new posts delivered directly to your inbox. :)

Who I’m Writing For

I’m writing for everyone out there who wants a better life, for everyone out there who wants to be more and do more. I’m writing to the rich, the poor, the sick, the weary, the hurting, the confused, the abused, the rejected, the abandoned, the homeless, the struggling, the successful and the unsuccessful - because I have been all of these and more.

How You Can Get Involved

I don’t accept comments or guest posts. (Sorry.) I would love a few proof readers to send blog post drafts to before they’re officially posted online, so if you’re interested in that, please let me know. I also have plans for LoveRoots to launch a massive Music page, a more meaningful Dating app, and a News site that focuses on more positive news. To do all that, I need passionate and talented people and investors. If that might be you, please reach out.

You can email info@loveroots.com if you have any questions or comments regarding a post or want to get involved in any other way. I encourage different viewpoints and am always looking for passionate people to work with.

This Blog’s Goal

The LoveRoots mission is simple: to help people live better and love more. This newsletter will help people live better, and the products sold here will help people love more by donating 100% of profits to charity (YOU choose the charity on the Checkout Thank You Page!).

This blog’s goal is to encourage and uplift people, and help spread more love and light in a world that desperately needs it. There’s been enough hate and violence, division and strife. The time is ripe for us to come together. The time is ripe for a revolution of love to take place.

I don't know what the future holds, but I do know that no matter what happens I will continue to trust in God and do good, and believe that things will end well. However I can humbly help spread love I will. And I hope you will join me in that endeavor my friend.

Wishing you health and happiness always.

Sincerely,

Dane Patrick Duross
